New Mexico State Meet Highlights

 

RESULTS

 

- Jordan Byrd from Manzano recovered from April 15 meniscus surgery to resume his station as New Mexico's fastest sprinter. He won the 6A 100 meters in 10.77 seconds. He was also second in the 200 meters in 21.68 seconds.

- Alejandro Goldston from Volcano Vista won the 6A 200 meters in 21.54 after going 21.19 for a state record in the prelims. He also placed second in the 100 in 10.80.

- Nia Powdrell from Cleveland swept the 6A sprints. She ran 12.08 in the 100-meter finals and 24.59 in the 200 meters. She also anchored her 4x100 and 4x200 relay squads to new state records: 47.16 seconds and 1:39.61.

- Akeisha Ayanniyi of Santa Fe smashed the state record in the girls long jump with 19-9.25.

- Abram Schaap from Volcano Vista won the 6A 400 meters in 47.43 seconds. He was also third in the 200 meters (21.87).

- Lauren Green from Volcano Vista triumphed in the 6A girls 400 meters with a time of 56.51 seconds.

- Gavin Sleeter from Eldorado won the 6A 800 meters in 1:52.87.

- Jessie Hix from Eldorado won the 6A girls 800 meters in 2:12.26.

- Sophomore Amanda Mayoral from Cleveland swept the 6A 1,600 (5:02.89) and 3,200 (11:16.13).

- Onate's Jennifer Ramirez swept the 6A hurdles with 14.72 in the 100s and 43.47 in the 300s.

- Veto Virgin from Cleveland won the boys 6A 300 hurdles in 37.53 seconds.

- Cleveland swept the 6A team titles. The boys scored 67 points, the girls 106.5.

- Augustine Larranaga of Capital ran 48.28 seconds to win the Classs 5A boys 400 meters.

- Jordan Lesansee of Albuquerque Academy won the 5A 1,600 meters in 4:20.08 and the 3,200 in 9:36.52.

- Arena Lewis from Belen won the 5A girls titles in the 1,600 (5:07.99) and the 3,200 (11:29.29).

- Albuquerque Academy pulled out the victory in the 5A boys meet with 55.5 points; Piedra Vista won the girls title with 78 points.

- Alex Heffelfinger from East Mountain won the 4A 1,600 (4:24.16) and 3,200 (9:38.87). Teammate Aubri Wrye swept the girls titles in the same events.

- The Taos Municipal boys (97) and Hope Christian girls (79.5) won the 4A team championship trophies.

 

A week earlier,  the small school championships ...

- The Pecos boys (64 points) and the Eunice girls (56) won the Class 3A team titles.

- Isaiah Rodarte from Penasco swept the 2A distance races, taking the the 800 (1:58.35), the 1,600 (4:30.59) and the 3,200 (9:49.52).

- The Logan boys (76) and the Fort Sumner girls (96) earned the Class 2A team championships.

- Elida won the Class 1A girls team title with 94 points. Reserve won the boys championship with 50.
